This half term the children started with some mark making skill work learning how to create marks using colouring crayons, pastels, drawing pencils and charcoal. They then made some pleasing drawings of wildebeests and vultures that linked into their class story 'The Ugly Five' and their learning about African animals. In their next lesson, the children learnt how to create animal drawings from fingerprints and add increasing numbers of features to them some of which are hillarious! The children carried out their very first directed drawing of a fox using drawing pencils, pastels, chalk and water which also linked well with their learning of animals local to where they live. They worked excellently with chalk pastels especially considering they are novices to chalk art. In addition, year one have just finished learning about the artist, Joan Miro and creating artwork in the same style using his love of geometric shapes and bold colours! Well done children!
